smc.bin files have not been used for years, it will not work. Post your request in a new thread or try the two HP unlock tools, RCUnlocker and HPUnlocker - https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=103526

Spectre is not supported by smc.bin nor hpunlocker/rcunlocker.

It probably has some hash for generating password. Maybe after entering wrong password 3 times. Alternatively you would need to read your dump and post it for someone to unlock it.

hi Mr RethoricalCheese, I am quite new and quite noob!

I bought an old HP ProBook 650 G1 from a shop that is selling used machines.
I could reinstall windows but then I wanted to access the BIOS and I could see it is protected by password.

I searched through the internet and the only procedure that is not involving unsoldering and reprogramming BIOS seems the one using SMC.bin file. I ended up in this thread. Could you help me get the SMC.bin file?

SERIAL NUMBER: 5CG6021YK1
UUID: 7F804C0ED7B9E511B00EBC61A102C0FF

Once I have the file, the procedure I have to implement is the following?
1- create a USB drive called HP_TOOLS
2- copy the file SMC.bin inside
3- power on the PC pressing windows+arrowup+arrowdown+F10
4- select reset BIOS

Using SMC.bin files was stopped in 2019. Get yourself a programmer and clip or find somebody who has them. No other way.

Nobody can give you a smc.bin file, read the post above yours.
