Zenith Z42PJ240 - Turns off when trying to change input

This is a cracked/damaged set that I have been planning on either trashing or pulling parts off.

Of course, no picture, since screen is totally cracked. The set will turn on, and I've programmed a remote , and used the console buttons, but no matter how I try to change input, I just see a red flash on the power led, and the set appears to shutdown.

Could I be sure at least the power supply is OK with these symptoms? Thanks for any ideas!

Any ideas on this one? I'm guess mainboard, but power board is likely ok, since it will stay powered on , until i change input?

Thought I'd ask once more if anyone has an idea on this. Hate to throw the entire set away if some of the parts can be salvaged. Just not sure what would cause the power off when changing input via remote.
