Sometimes I have to troubleshoot relay failures when in the field. This is for heaters, furnaces, stoves, refrigerator control boards.
Ideally it should be a board-level swap, but it's easier to carry around a box of assorted relays and do a primitive test... tapping them... whack... and use a 12V car light bulb like #1156 and separate DC power supply to pull in the coil.
Ageing relay contacts have increasing resistance and will melt the case or burn the PCB if higher current (>10A) is flowing. Dishwasher fires/recalls caused by this.
