    HP XW6200 Workstation

    Rec'd one of these today

All that was supplied was the mobo, PSU and case with an XP Pro COA

I have tested the PSU with a go/no-go tester
Whilst all the voltages report ok (it has an LCD readout), the tester still beeps

    The PSU is a Delta DPS-170AB A Rev 01
This is an HP P/N 345525-002

Does the continued beeping of the tester indicate the PSU is at fault?
I will test the voltages at the connector end with a MMeter.
    Any other suggestions?

    Please advise.

    Thanks for your consideration.

if your tester is anything like mine, it beeps if it sees that there is some voltage not present at the time of testing. with mine, all it takes is not plugging in the extra 4 pin CPU power plug. even if the main power plug is plugged in and working fine, the tester beeps because it wants that other plug plugged in too. I have tried it with the 20 pin plug, 4 pin molex and floppy all plugged in. until i plugged in the 4 pin CPU one, it beeped.

      Y

As this is a dual CPU mobo, I have plugged in the ATX24 pin
      plus a 8 pin 12V CPU connector
All voltages appear ok, tester is still beeping

      Thanks

the only thing i can think of is either bad tester, missing voltages, or voltages way out of sink... Example 5v reading 7v.. beyond that, i have no idea why it would be beeping.
