    Chemicon PSC series life span

I found 2 datasheets saying different lifespan

    One said 15,000 hours

    Another said 2,000 hours only

And i'm trying to figure out how long will mine one last, it makes a huge difference!

    Either one will be fine.
Polymer capacitors have much higher life compared to electrolytics.

electrolytic capacitors: double lifetime rating for every 10c decrease in ambient temperature from maximum rating

    polymer capacitors : Lifetime = Original Lifetime x 10 ^ [ (Tmax - Tambient) / 20 ]

So let's say capacitor is at 55c all the time:

    2000h @ 105c electrolytic: 4000h@95c, 8000h@85c, 16k @ 75k , 32k @65, 64k @ 55c = 2666 days = ~ 7.3 years

    2000h @ 105c polymer : 2000 * 10 ^ [( 105-55)/20)] = 2000 x 10^ (50/20) = 2000 x 10^2.5 = 2000 x 316 = ~ 632.000 hours = ~ 26333 days = ~ 72 years

In reality, they all may break after around 25-30 years due to the rubber bottom breaking down (micro cracks, oils seeping out etc)

These and the PSG series where uprated.
So you need to have recently manufactured caps to have the increased lifespan rating...
