    Vizio M65-C1 No Power

I have one of these where the front power indicator will come on when i first plug it in but then it just fades off.

Measured the 12v power and it is a solid 19v which as i understand is normal. Not measuring any 5v standby voltage or 24v. When i unplug the main board from the power board still no 5v or 24v. I've heard there is suppose to be a LED that will be solid red on the main board but it is not on at all.

I spoke to Vizio tech support and they said it was a problem with the power board, but there doesn't seem to be any in stock so hoping someone could help me troubleshoot it.

Check all your diodes for starters, if you have a multimeter.

All of the diodes I could find seem to be ok, ~.5-.8 v across them

And if you reverse the probes you get 1 right, or no reading? check them in diode mode, tv unplugged,as always BE VERY CAREFULL when working with powerboard, DEADLY voltages on the HOT side.

How about reporting the Voltage for each pin of the power supply connectors?
Please make sure to report in the format (Pin name follow by the Voltage reading) that we can easily what is there and not there for each pin when the TV is off and when the power switch is activated.
Also upload good clear pictures of the whole backside of the TV showing how the boards are connected together.

OK, I am confused, your post #1 indicated no 24V but your post #6 shows 24V is present when PS-ON command from the main board is present.
So far what you show on post #6 the power supply board is putting out Voltages as it should.
Since you do not have any indicator light which is driven by the main board, I would try disconnecting the WI-FI card first and see what will happen.

                Re: Vizio M65-C1 No Power

Yeah i noticed the 24v as well, I'm wondering if the way i measured it is a problem. I had the board upside down and measured the underside to get at the pins and used a ground on the cold side of the board. (I did have the board insulated so nothing would be shorting out.)

I can try removing the WiFi board...which one is it?

In your picture as you look at it, it's far left small unit, it goes to top right of mainboard.

                        Re: Vizio M65-C1 No Power

you might want to look closer at the two "on/off" pins on the two different connectors to see what's up with them. My first guess would be you have a backlight issue which is causing the set to shut down.

But do you have backlights? or if the backlighs even flash on for seconds before going into shutdown.

Vizio M Series have BGA issues on main boards. Symptom is usually no BL-ON (ON/OFF) signal from processor. https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=80093

                            But here
                            CN9101 -__________OFF____ON
                            PIN 15 - ON/OFF _____0V_____3.3 <<< present from main board

                            CN9201 -
                            PIN 1 - ON/OFF - ______0V____0.1 <<< not-present from ps board

Believe the second connector is signal to LED driver board. Double check that measurement and trace it back to the first connector.

Ok i rechecked and made some observations:

When i plug it in the indicator light on the lower left front of the TV comes on then fades off.

Right after plugging it in but before powering it on, checking the voltages... the 24V pins looked like they were slowly discharging down from 24V.

Checking this again I don't have the 3.3V When powered on:

                              CN9101 -__________OFF____ON
                              PIN 15 - ON/OFF _____0V_____0.1

After i had powered the TV on and was taking measurements, i noticed that the left front power indicator light came back on then faded off on its own (I wasn't touching anything or taking any measurements when it did that)

I do not see any backlights turn on or anything on the screen at all when plugging it in or powering on...only the left front power indicator coming on then fading out.

So updated question, does the missing on/off voltage or any of the other observations give any clues about what is failing?

Finally was able to take a look at the main board and all does not appear well. On the back of it is all this residue. Anyone know if that can just be cleaned off or is that the blood of a dead CPU oozing onto the board?

I got this new from Costco about 4 years ago. Sadly I only had 3 years warranty on it. I noticed the picture from the post mentioned above shows a main board that looks similar and replacing the board seemed to fix it.

I ordered one from eBay, hopefully it's the correct one and it works!
