Re: Westinghouse L2410NM 24" LCD power goes on and off, blue light flickers
Here is a list of the caps on that board - can you amend it to show just the missing ones.
1 1 P14382-ND CAP ELECT 2200UF 10V FR RADIAL 0.94000 $0.94
2 2 P12417-ND CAP 680UF 35V ELECT FM RADIAL 0.85000 $1.70
3 1 P12368-ND CAP 1500UF 16V ELECT FM RADIAL 0.85000 $0.85
4 2 P14424-ND CAP ELECT 1000UF 25V FR RADIAL 0.91000 $1.82
5 1 P14413-ND CAP ELECT 100UF 25V FR RADIAL 0.33000 $0.33
I know where the 2200uf one goes
EDIT EDIT
Forget that - they are ALL under the heatsink /Missing
EDIT EDIT DO NOT USE THAT LIST TO ORDER SOME CAPS ARE TOO TALL

Re: Westinghouse L2410NM 24" LCD power goes on and off, blue light flickers
You have replaced some?
I have a theory but it is by no means proven.
The cap that always fails is the 2200uf which is C104
The 100uf is going to be the smallest cap so C??? cant see
but you already have it in there?
There is a pic somewhere on here showing the 16v 1500uf
which is at C106
In the good old days the circles on the board were an indication of the size of the cap so based on that the cap at C106 the one next to it and C107 would be the same size.
Looking at the sizes available this would suggest that the cap next to C106 and the cap at C107 would be the 680uf
This leaves the last two circles which are the same size and larger than the 680 of circles so that would where the 1000ufs would go
Unfortunately that is where the theory now fails as modern caps are different sizes.
Re: Westinghouse L2410NM 24" LCD power goes on and off, blue light flickers
C104 -2200@10, C107-1000@25, C156-680@35, C106-1500@16V, C109-1000@25. Can't read C158, if its the one next to the choke and the vertical mounted power resistor, it is 680@35.
Re: Westinghouse L2410NM 24" LCD power goes on and off, blue light flickers
Well, it's been awhile since i fixed this lcd and now it has started giving me a
black 2-3 inch wide band up the far right side of the screen (vertically). After
a few minutes it seems to fix itself. Happens on every input.
Any ideas?
I don't think I changed EVERY cap last time I fixed it.
Re: Westinghouse L2410NM 24" LCD power goes on and off, blue light flickers
Hello guys,
Recently my aging Westinghouse L2410NM 24" LCD started flickering a lot more than before. Flickering is a known issue with these LCDs, some were returned brand new because of that, which hints to design errors. Apart from flickering 5-6 times every 3-4 hours when hot, the monitor is still in perfect shape, so I decided to fix it. Before looking under the hood, here is inventory of what was shared in this thread so far:
- bad power supply caps are the likely culprit. Replace them ALL, except the largest 120uF 420V that seldom fails
- from another source: the largest cap 120uF 420V is the only one that largely looses capacitance over time and needs replacement
- 2 models of power supply boards are interchangeable: APO FP-120A01 and DAC-24M001
- when only some caps were replaced, in 6-12 months all caps including the new ones get bulged, and the monitor often needed Inverter board replacement too
- power-to-main board cables overheat and the connector may intermittently loose contact under heat from backlight bulbs, and restore it under hand pressure
- preferred Cap makes: use name brand low ESR caps like Panasonic FM, FR, or FC series. Nichicon, United Chemicon, and Rubycon have equivalent series parts.

Before opening the monitor, I've a few questions though:
- why after replacing just one largest cap 120uF 420V the LCD said to be fixed "forever", while replacing most or all caps except the largest resulted for several folks here in repeat LCD failure in a few months?
- what are main design differences btw different Series of wet caps like Panasonic FM, FR, FC made by the same manufacturer?
- my LCD seems to start flickering when slight wind is blowing from a window over its hot vents, even in summer. What physical processes with what components can cause that?
Re: Westinghouse L2410NM 24" LCD power goes on and off, blue light flickers
I hope nobody minds that I'm continuing the tradition of bumping this 10-year-old thread. It just so happens that this thread seems to be the absolute best source of information on repairing the caps for this monitor that the internet has to offer. As such, and because it helped me immensely, I felt that I ought to post here with the following list of parts I just ordered from Digikey:
2x
P14424-ND
EEU-FR1E102
CAP ALUM 1000UF 20% 25V RADIAL
1x
P19719CT-ND

CAP ALUM 470UF 20% 35V RADIAL

CAP ALUM 22UF 20% 50V RADIAL
3x
P15348CT-ND
EEU-FR1E101B
CAP ALUM 100UF 20% 25V RADIAL
I would have preferred all FR-series but wasn't able to find those in stock. This list if for replacing all of the caps on an FP-120A01 power supply board except the big (420V 120uF) one. I was not able to find any part kits for this variant of board or any full replacement parts at the time of this post.
As a side note, Westinghouse does not get a lot of respect for their monitors, but the two L2410NM's that I bought have served me well for over 14 years now. Sure, they run hot, have EDID and HDMI issues, refuse to turn on sometimes unless you press all the side keys a bunch, use buzzy old CCFLs, and probably have miserable refresh and latency specs in comparison to modern monitors. But in their defense they do get bright as hell, only had a single pixel die in all these years, connect with all my vintage gear (D-Sub, DVI, 4-pin DIN, RCA, S-Video) and they have stood up to many years of hauling them around in back seats of my vehicles.
These days I prefer Samsung and LG and I rock a 49" super ultrawide... but I bought enough caps to do replacements on BOTH my L2410NM's -- although I'll stop at one for now if it fixes the issue. I'm doing it out of respect for the service these monitors provided and just because I've never replaced the caps on anything before and I want to do it for funzies.
