When you say hook up the light bulb, I've seen this elsewhere. What type of bulb? I'd imagine, I'd have to get the monitor powered up, right? The bulb goes on or not, and then what?

You mentioned measuring the voltages, which voltages, where?

I'm sorry I'm such a novice, but I want to learn this stuff!

Don't buy another monitor, you don't need to. Take a picture of the board with the fuse, mark its location, and post it here. Keep the focus sharp, please.
