Hi Yes usually in circuit then if it doesnt test correctly out of circuit before
trying to find a replacement. I have found some more info which suggests
36ohms may be correct- as they are both the same I would assume they're ok.
So what next?

Well I finally found the time to reassemble the TV for testing after bypassing the open circuit (JR8). Unfortunately, it did not change anything that I can tell. Still no backlight or other signs of life beyond the "power" indicator turning to blue.

Does anybody have any further suggestions?

One last bump before I give up and return it as-is. Thanks to all who have tried to help.
