Paper Jam Error in Lexmark X204n

    Dear Technicians,

I have a Printer/Scanner called Lexmark X204n. Its scanner works fine, but its printer gives a Paper Jam error, even when there is no paper in the printer. The cartridge is old and was not used for a long time. Now I have a question: Is this error due to a stuck cartridge or due to a faulty Paper-Jam sensor?

    thanks

All I can find is this User Guide.

      thank you
      my question is:
In general in any laser printer, when there is no paper jam happened, what will usually cause a paper jam error to appear?
a stuck cartridge or a faulty Paper-Jam sensor?
is it possible that the cartridge gets stuck and cannot roll such that the printer controller thinks a paper is jammed in the cartridge? or it is usually due to a faulty Paper-Jam sensor?

Surely it depends how the printer senses the jam.
What do you mean cartridge ?

I mean a toner cartridge which is used in laser printers and is explained here:
          https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toner_cartridge

Sometimes, paper gets jammed in the printer when the paper moves around the cartridge and the paper gets stuck there. This is called Paper Jam.
Sometimes, there is no real paper jam, but the controller falsely thinks a paper jam happened. This is when a wrong signal is sent to the controller by the Paper-Jam sensor. this can be due to a number of problems.
Now I want to know: Can this wrong signal be due to a bad cartridge?
If so, replacing the cartridge will solve the problem easily for me.

The paper doesn't move around the toner.

that is right. I meant "near" cartridge. In a paper jam, paper gets stuck somewhere near the cartridge and the drum.

It's not the toner that is causing it then.

Keep looking for a tiny scrap of paper. Every printer I have had this issue with the problem has always been a small scrap of paper lodged somewhere. Get a flash light, pull off every cover you can and check every roller. Follow the entire path the paper travels from start to finish. It is there - hiding and laughing at you.

I agree it 99.9% is not the toner. Paper jams do not care how old the toner is.
