Alienware X51 R2 alien head LED color issue

Hi, I couldn't find a category for desktops so I hope I am in the right section, sorry if not.

The front alien head RGB LED has an issue with the blue color, the red and green colors work but the blue is very dull which causes the color mixing not to show correctly such as purple showing as an orange/red color and light blue as green.

The issue occurs on Win7 and also on the fresh install of Win 10 so it shouldn't be software, bios has been updated from A00 to latest A12 with no difference.

I have checked voltages and when the LED is blue the blue voltage is the the same as the red line voltage and green voltage.

What could I try next or would the LED be failing? Thanks

Bad LEDs 99%. I have even seen some LEDs on case fans die lately.

why don't you try a software fix to remap the driver for each LED?

Found it, yes the blue color side on the right is burnt causing the blue to be very dim, could you help me find this exact LED for replacement please, I have found similar ones on Google but they are a different model and the circuitry is different, it's a 4 pin.

As you can see there is a big brightness difference.

What would be a suitable replacement LED?

remove the LED from the Blue board and take a photo of its backside.

It is one board with 4 pads, here is the back of the RGB LED.

this seem to be an LED array. I am not an electronics technician, so I do not know about various kinds of LEDs. Take this LED to a local electronics shop and ask them whether they have got an equivalent LED. Probably, electronics shop owners know about various kinds of LEDs.

Measure the dimensions of the LED and the voltages to the pins as each of the colours needs a different voltage.

Thanks, I quite like the first one you linked for it's mat like finish.

The voltages are different now as the LED was removed but when I had tested the voltages earlier when I started troubleshooting and they were 3.3V but one was around 2V so it sounds correct, I'll purchase the LED and update the thread on how is goes :-)
