    Re: Extractor Fan power supply

The highest value I've got is a 100uf, if the ones I've linked to are ok I'll just order those.

Well if you have two of those connected in parallel that's awfully close to 220uF

+1, then you can see if the fan will work or not.

          Re: Extractor Fan power supply

I only have one 100uf, could I use that with the one that was previously installed which was giving me a reading of about 75uf just for a test.

To install them in parallel do I just join the + and - legs together.

Yes you can, and your connection idea is correct.
It's good for a quick test like this...

              Re: Extractor Fan power supply

The Fan seems to work fine with the extra capacitor in parallel with the old one, so if the capacitors I linked to in a previous post are OK I'll order those.

Thanks to everyone for all your help.

Yes it should be fine, probably does not matter if it is low ESR or not in this circuit.
It might be a good idea to check the capacitance of the C1 X2 film capacitor as well, if you are anyway placing an order...

4 years on this discussion helped me repair my fan, same 449252 pcb, labelled as type F100T1 Lieferant supplied by APL, probably from Toolstation, about 8 years old. Same fault with underspec electrolytic 220 uf capacitor, replaced and working again. Thanks.
