black screen at startup acer aspire 3103WLMI

on this position, as he had winows vista system. The machine is slow so I decided to install windows xp. The process had started well until the machine crashes at the installation of devices. I turned off the machine and when I turn on, it displays black screen. I do ALT + F10, Ctrl + Alt + F10, F10, and still nothing. Unavoidable to access the bios or to restore the machine. Thank you for help.

unplug from wall. remove battery, hold power button for 30 seconds an plug it back in!

try reseating ram an hd! hook to external display an see if ya get pic!

take memory out an put back in! called reseating! do same for hard drive! on side of laptop there is a vga out , that goes to an external monitor! might also have an hdmi out, this can be used to hook to new style tv with matching plug on it! hope that helps! let us know!

Probably Southbridge, Ati IPX460.
A common problem with this board.
If reseting ram does not help, I would first suspect in SB
