Didn't RatDude call his scope a one-channel scope?

XY mode doesn't involve a 2-channel scope, it only needs 2 inputs. It overrides the X axis which is normally controlled by the timebase. Differential measurements, or measurements of two different signals require a 2-channel scope.

I mean't. Most scopes integrate X and Y into the two channel inputs so they don't need to use 2 separate dedicated BNC jacks.

correct. it is an AC scope.

My first scope was full of tubes and worked great since all I did was audio (1989). I also got an isolation transformer with it.
