    Best replacement fuse

Just got in a huge HP color laser printer that was hit with a surge. I immedietly found a blown fuse in the power supply. Its a Hollyland 51MS (Medium slow blow) 125V/8A fuse. Its nominal melting I2T is 167. Blow times are 100%: 4hrs min., 135% 1hr max, 200%, 20sec. max. Looking on digikey, the closest I can find is a littlefuse 232 series. The 232 series has a melting I2T of 182, the blow times are the same at 100% and 135%, but 200% is 2.25sec max. Should that be close enough?

8a slowblow 125v minimum is all you need to be concerned with
make sure it's ceramic NOT glass though

Did you test the components downstream of the fuse? One or more may be shorted.

The original fuse wasn't ceramic, according to the hollyland spec of the 51MS.

maybe, but if something shorts out and blows a glass fuse hard, the glass can shatter.
you really should use ceramics on mains!

'Just got in a huge HP color laser printer that was hit with a surge.' Is the MOV (surge protector device) which is connected after the main fuse OK?

MOVs get "used up". When they do finally fail, they tend to fail closed circuit and result in flames.

If it did sustain a big strike, I'd probably replace it, but I'm overly cautious.
