    Appliance PC Board Protection

If this inquiry is posted in the wrong forum or site, my bad.

BACKGROUND: Several home appliance PC boards have been damaged over the years – dishwashers, wine coolers and oven. I'm no expert but it is my feeling that appliances with PC boards and without a manual on/off switch are particularly subject to surge damage.

Now, each appliance is protected with an internal surge protector whenever possible. A Whole House Surge Protector has just been installed in the electrical panel for external surges.

QUESTION: The oven Control Board (Whirlpool OEM Part #71001872) has just been replaced – damaged prior to the external surge protector install. The oven does not have a manual on/off switch, just a keypad. I think it is vulnerable to internal surges. There is no way that I know to add an internal surge protector for the oven. The oven power is hard-wired.

Any suggestions to add an internal surge protector appreciated.

    Regards...Bill

Your TV is also does not have hard power switch (very rare now to have power switch that actually cut off the power to the TV completely), just soft power switch. Same thing for your monitors and computers.
The TV has standby power supply that runs 24/7 same for the processor on the TV's main board. TV power supply only use a small MOV for surge protection.

Get POCO to check for open neutral. You're only masking the problem with those TVSSes, and those of questionable quality can burn up attempting to "re-balance" your service.
