    Sony Vaio PCV-W20

I am picking up this interesting, old Sony PCV-W20 which runs, but has obvious problems. I want to get everyones opinion on doing a polymer recap, at least on the CPU stage. I had good results poly-modding a 478 board in the past.

I would also recap the PSU with quality electrolytics just to help it keep up with the polymers on the motherboard.

    Any thoughts are welcome.

    Re: Sony Vaio PCV-W20

I'm curious about the chipset combination in this thing. It has the SiS 650, which allows 400MHz FSB and 3GB total RAM. This board uses DDR, and from what I can tell, caps at PC2100 speed. But the product sheet say the system can use 1GB max?

Also, it's paired with the SiS 962L southbridge, which allows ATA133, and USB 1.0 or 1.1, but not 2.0 IIRC, yet the product sheet claims 2.0 ability.

Needless tosayy, this board is confusing. I'm wondering if I can upgrade the CPU AS 400MHz 478 cpu's go up to 3GHz. This has a 1.8!
