ordinary ECS SF2/661FX...or not so ordinary? wait a while...

    There are Panasonic caps!

    And Sanyo!

    Panasonic FJ

    Sanyo

And why? No, it's not recapped - it came from the factory like this. Let's power it up - it works!

And that's why - it's made for Acer

Cool, now flash the ECS bios onto it or get a BIOS IC that has the ECS bios on it..

It was not mine but I flashed ECS BIOS anyway - it worked fine. If all ECS boards were like this...no need to buy crap like Asus

I thought Acer was owned by or closely affiliated with AOpen?

Yes, they're connected somehow (AOpen is probably Acer's brand?) - and Acer boards look very much like AOpen. They're good except for crappy caps sometimes. Don't know why they used ECS.

Perhaps they share engineers. It seems from time to time they seem to take a hiatus from the enthusiast market. Currently their line up is pretty sparse, they only just released a Core2 775 board and there is nothing for AM2.

AOpen is usually my first choice, one of the reasons being their quality in cap selection. I've used all kinds of socket A AOpen boards almost all of them have either Rubycon, Chemicon, or Panasonic, even the older first gen Athlon boards. The exemption being two boards that had Lelon (everything else was Rubycon or Chemicon) on the VRM input that did eventually fail, though the boards remained stable.

Just look at the cool options you can specify when you order in quantities of 100K?

Nice caps..... now get some RAM in that poor thing!

Actually I contacted Jetway about a Socket 939 ATi based board, the board has 64M or 128M of onboard memory..

I asked about getting more memory and better caps on the board... they replied with a minimum order of 500 units, they were up for it.

Typical... did they mention how much more per unit such upgrades would cost?

I've seen an ASUS board in an HP Pavilion a1700n that came with all Panasonic caps.

Probably the manufacturers don't want crap caps in their computers.

Sorry for posting in old thread.

This board are belong to the following series Acer computer, around year 2004.
                              - Acer Power F1
                              - Aspire T310
                              - Aspire T310c
                              - Acer Power FT100
                              - Acer Power FT100c
                              - Acer Power F11
                              - Acer Power F11c

I also have one in hand. If your LCD monitor(19") is supportrf 1440x 900 (16:10) only, you need to upgrade latest BIOS, it is because this BIOS is included a latest VGA ROM for this board. Otherwise, this baord can't support 1440x 900.

X-CON is a new brand for SAMXON's Polymer Capacitors.

                                IIRC Aopen belongs to ACER.

Aopen means ACER open to public.
