It might me a 28 volt TVS diode SMAJ28A marked "CG". If it checks shorted it will be bad, if it checks open it is liklely good.

Yes its bad. I checked it . How sure you are about the SMAj28A.
The board i am fixing is very rare and the one i find has 150$ + import charges.

It is hard to make out the exact letters but the logo seems to be for Tiawan Semiconductor I see the first letter is a "C" but is the second a "G" or could it be a "0" similar to this ?

When you say it is BAD do you mean it is shorted? where is it in the circuit? is it a diode that supplies a voltage from a tranformer or is it a protection diode across a supply voltage like a zener?
You say it is in the inverter, I take it you mean the lamp inverter, correct?
Maybe post a picture of the complete board (both sides) and the Model of the projector.
It could also be a non standard or custom part number stamped on the diode for the inverter manufacture
