this listing appears to be real he told me it weighs about 47g and look at the markings on back..thin and not level very typical of old school production process...

It does look real, it will be even better if you can verify the heatsink thickness, but if it is cheap enough you may want to go ahead and buy it.
BTW, if you look at spec sheet of V version last page, it shows June 1997 so they at least made them up to that year or later.

Ok well he confirmed the weight 46g and he guarantees genuine....bud do u think the version v would be as same quality build as the much older version II? 1980 to 1997 is a lot of years in technology so i would imagine the version v would be made of cheaper components...no?

I cannot tell if the built quality of II version is better than V version, may be they use better parts and improve circuit to improve distortion spec for the V series. Manufacturing of Semiconductor device tend to be improved as time goes by.

Re: Vintage Fisher Studio Standard CA-39 amplifier R channel bad?

                hi

im here to report my findings and here to tell everyone that genuine sanyo stk4191 II and stk4191 V are not made the same period.

they may function the same but they are not the same made.

im going to continue looking for genuine stk4191 II

as i stated before newer is never better and apparently sanyo cut corners on the version V

                here are some facts:

                genuine sanyo weight size
                stk4191 II 45g 77mmx44mm
                stk4191 V 30g 64mmx37mm

the stk4191 V i bought appears to be genuine..the stamping on the back seems genuine and the weight proportionally seems good and the sealed box it was in had tape on there that smelled like old and looked old and the seller assured me he bought them 20years ago from a supplier

there is nothing about the one i bought from him that appears fake..even the alum back is nice and flush and about .075 thick same thickness as my stk4191 II

Re: Vintage Fisher Studio Standard CA-39 amplifier R channel bad?

well boys...i changed my mind..i have spent way too much time trying to find out what chips are real and which are knockoffs..i decided to just go ahread and install the genuine stk4191V .instead of looking for a genuine stk4191 II.had to drill and tap new holes in the alum heat sink since the chip was smaller with diff hole pattern....i resoldered it back in place..had to do 1 trace repair/jumper ..ruined during deoldering too much heat....i put it all back together fired it up and fuse did not blow..so i then hooked up my speakers and fired it up and bam..on comes Rush / tom sawyer...what a classic song to jam to with my fresh repair. and super crazy ironically i bought the fisher in 1981 and tom sawyer was created in 1981...now thats craaaaazy........sounds good and works fine

thanks for all your help...i did learn to be more careful when hooking up speaker wires and do it with the system off.......also learned that its difficult to find original sanyo stks and that even though stk4191II and stk4191V are same functioning stks and compatible ..they are definitely not the same ...in my opinion the stk419 II is way better and more robust made.

wish i could have used the more beefy II instead of the less beefy V but it is what it is

i have sound now and its done

                      hi
..fyi the ones sold at nikkoe are knockoffs...

i have many genuine stk4191 V.. im in USA not UK.

from a tv radio repair shop that closed...new old stock

i decided to buy all he had since these are almost impossible to find genuine and these are no longer made by sanyo

All of them sold by electronics companies are cheap made chinese knockoffs since they dont make sanyos anymore.

i have some of the last of the genuine sanyos..im not a company im just a person

if you want to buy please message me and we can do via paypal
