![]() Hello
After checking this resistor which gives no value on the ohmmeter on a PS4 SLIM power supply. I would like to change it but by which power I can choose it knowing that this resistor is on the primary part that is to say on the 230/400 V side Value 16.8 Ohm normally according to color code (See photo) 1st ring = Brown = 1 2nd ring Blue = 6 3rd ring Grey = 8 4th ring OR Multiplier = x0.1 Ohm 5th ring Red = +/- 2 %. Tolerance of either + or - 0.336 ohms Dimension of the resistor Length = 6.4mm, Width 4.8mm Can I place one between 15 and 17 Ohm or a little more? What power in Watt I can order if it is 2W or 3W I don't want to do anything stupid about the value to choose Thanks a lot to you Last edited by fab13; 12-08-2022 at 04:33 PM.. |

![]() This is a safety resistor, plays the role of a fuse (0.16 Om. 5%).

![]() Strange because it doesn't even sound continuous in this case

![]() What is strange here, 3 stripes (silver) is a multiplier of x0.01.

![]() I was really surprised to see this silver stripe in the 3rd position, so I considered it as a grey color.
I can't find any other information about a silver band in the 3rd place for 5 rings.Maybe it should not be taken into account then =S so I will have to calculate it as 4 rings. This would give 0.16 Ohm but tested in several modes Diode or megaohm the resistance gives nothing at all. Only I need an example of a resistor on the same power supply of a ps4 slim Last edited by fab13; 12-12-2022 at 01:11 PM.. |

![]() Is this the resistor at location F3? if it is, it is a 0.16Ω-2watt. Lotas post #2 is correct

![]() So the resistor is indeed 0.16 OHM which acts as a fuse we will say.
I ordered a 2W and it is much smaller, so I took a 3W which is the same size and the power supply works now Many thanks to you |

![]() I don't think I've ever seen a multiplier band of gray (and definitely not white), it's always been silver of that set of similar colors.
Purple multiplier is rare enough as it is... I think I've only seen 1 or 2 ever. |
