Got this board in an IBM Netvista machine for free. Reportedly smoke came out of it. Wouldn't POST or beep. I thought it was the PSU but it proved to be fine - i found a scorched FET near the RAM slots, it was the RAM regulator. It was so bad the drain pad came off with it.
I ghetto'd a 40N03P in there (the kind used for making 3.3v in some cheap PSUs) and i got the no memory beep. Put one stick of RAM in and it fired right up. Put the second one in and it froze, and since then it doesn't want to POST anymore. I still get the no memory beep when no RAM is installed, but when i put RAM in i get nothing. Memory voltage seemed a bit low so i hacked the regulator to deliver more, but still no go. RAM tests fine in another board.
I found a single questionable cap (chipset power supply) and it's been replaced already. I'm out of ideas on this one. I'm not too keen on fixing it, but what i did on the RAM regulator looks so ghetto it'd be fun to actually have this working.
