Where do you get so many of these VP6's?!
Last I checked eBay, their prices are pretty steep. Actually, its getting harder/more pricey to find even less old hardware, like socket 754 and 939 stuff.

This new-old-stock one was an ebay find. Open bidding, not some ridiculous high BIN. I got it for $50 shipped.

After some diddling, it was a success! It was an interesting feat....but finally there.....what better use of poly edition # 1

        Anyway, here she is!!

Windows stable, sees things as they should be.

I might have to change the BIOS line to reflect the Tualatin mods.....I don't know if it will run coppermines anymore.....but I'd guess it would.

Sadly, it don't look like there's PCI-X, thus, you probably have "SCSI 133".

Just like when I found and used an Adaptec 29160 SCSI card briefly on a Coppermine motherboard (and later, tested it on my Asus P5QL Pro motherboard) But I got rid of the Cheetah setup I had, because it acted as if the board was damaged, it suddenly went from at least around 60-something MB/s to 30-something MB/s, IIRC.

I suspect an SMD cap got broken off or there was a fractured solder joint. And the Plextor SCSI CD-RW drive, IIRC, wasn't reliable either, apparently, it seemed that it would do a "short read", if not send corrupted data.
It caused the Debian installer to give me the dreaded "MD5 failed" RSOD! Likely when installing Ubuntu...

            Nice work, as always.

Is this going to be built into an official system, BTW? I don't see an audio card, so I imagine this setup was just something to test/evaluate the system and not so much a permanent build. I'm sure you'll surprise us when you find the right hardware/case for it, of course.

I need to find just the right beige case for this one...

A few months shy of 2yrs later, I still haven't found the right beige case....but I did find a case! It was given to me among a pickup load of other old computer junk. FWIW, I unmodded the Tualatin mod, it was never stable under load, a known & common issue when trying to run Tualatins dual in these boards. They'll run fine & flawlessly with a single.... Ohh well, back to Coppermines. Stay tuned for the upcoming build!!

FWIW, Poly # 2 is still out there somewhere....I never got it back....hopefully it's still working/being abused!
