Hi All. I have an HP stream 14 that hasn't been plugged in for a year or two. I recently got it out, reinstalled windows. Next step was upgrading the bios to F.06 Rev.A from the website.
Well, it won't charge. Getting a "601" main battery error.
So I ordered a new battery, put it in , same issue.
Tried "disconnecting the AC adapter and battery. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds. Reconnect power and try starting the notebook again." Did nothing.
So I took apart the old battery so see what I could find. The cells seem to hold a charge if I apply a 100ma current directly to them. I managed to charge the battery, but I have zero output on the red wires labeled "+" and the black ones labeled "-". From what I've read , some batteries will not output anything without the laptop sending out a signal to the battery turning on the output.
Anyone have any insight into this? would an older bios kick this back on?
Anyone have schematics available? Battery and charging schematics or a description of how it works?
