    I think i killed it Toshiba 40L1333DB

Hi guys & girls, first of all i better say im no expert in TV repair but im pretty good at fixing CNC machine tools down to board level and phones / android apps, its just TV's i seem to be killing.

I was given a Toshiba 40L1333DB for my lad to use in his room, was told that the tv had been working and suddenly went off. i had a good look online / here and found that it was probably a backlight failure. with a torch i could see the picture and sound was ok.

checked there was power coming out of the power supply ( vestel 17IPS20 23122636) which seemed ok.

took the screen apart to get to the leds and started checking the strips using home made 27v & 3v battery packs.

all but 1 strip worked but 2 strips had a bad led (open circuit) which were replaced using a piggy back type repair and the strip that didn't work at all was found to have a faulty / burnt connector that was fixed by soldering direct onto the feed point also had 1 bad (short) led that was also replaced.

feeling proud and smug i started putting things back together again but when i connected the power the thing is now dead, no front panel power led flashing nothing. i know there is power to the power supply but i think i must have shorted something while doing the led repairs. i have disconnected the backlights and main board from the power supply and it is still dead.

i have found and checked the fuse fs101 which seems to be fine but beyond that im lost so im hoping someone clever might be able to help get it working again.

i looked on TV spares and found the board but they are out of stock so im really hoping someone might take pity on my and puppy walk me through fixing it. Thanks

see if you got stby voltage coming from the psu to the main board. STBY is always on as soon as you plug in the PSU into mains outlet.

just checked and 1 pin to the main board has 24v and another has 12v

also just checked and there is 84v at the led connection too

Where are you putting the meter leads when measuring?

to a corner of the board where there is a screw / earth tab (the board is still screwed onto the chassis)

i thought it just went into standby when it was plugged in thats how it used to work, plug in front panel led flashes and use remote or push button to turn on but now theres no flashing led and remote or button do not work.

something is not right. You are measuring 390V on the caps, that means the PSU is full on and the PFC is running. So that again means either you had forced the PSU on, or the main board is stuck in on mode right now, since it doesn't respond anymore and yet turns on the PSU?
