I picked up this 47" TV and it didn't have a picture or sound, but it did have backlights. No visible damage on any of the boards, and all the voltages were normal on the power supply. I figured it was probably the main board, but could not find one available for this model right now anywhere. I thought I might as well try reflowing the large BGA chip as I have seen others have success doing it. I heated it with my cheapo hot air rework station for a few minutes, monitored the temp with a thermocouple, trying to keep the temperature around 450-500 deg F.
I was very surprised to find out that the TV actually works 100% now! Just wanted to post this as a possible avenue to try for others in the future.
