Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

    Hello

I signed up quite some time ago but on a hunt for things I came across this site yet again, logged in and now, I suspect that I might have already entered a note here but as I am unsure I thought I better follow the rule again.

A lot of what I do relates to archival and some of what I do relates to small simple repairs such as recapping old boards. I am by no means trained in electronics but I wish I was because it is such a fascinating field. Nonetheless, I have all the necessary tools for soldering / desoldering, adding flux and all that good stuff. It's a ton of fun, I just wish I knew more about electronics.

I have quite a number of old Macintosh computers and they are of that vintage that they surely require recapping. This would include caps being replaced for not just Logic Boards but also power supplies and old CRT monitors.

I have an old Powerbook 2400c, actually two of them but one is simply not turning on, only a small click of the speaker as the power supply is connected. I know it's not the power supply because it works on the second powerbook 2400c. The machine has been sitting in a box dismantled for about 2 years and this summer I plan to try to get going again.

Anyway, I am glad I rediscovered this forum and I will have a book mark more visible for future access. I would like to thank everyone for the opportunity and hope that I can be of some help here and there but I am afraid my knowledge will make me more of a seeker of knowledge and answers than otherwise.

    Kind regards
    —Alex

Hi there, this is a nice way to discover a lot of repair tips and the old fashion way of the online forum (because groups on Facebook is too much "hi/hello" and simple postings).

Keep up the good work here!

Hello, greetings to the entire community.

I am a person who quite likes the world of computers at the hardware and software level, I am an empiricist in this matter, I have learned everything by reading pages on the Internet and through videos. Browsing the web I came across this forum that I think is very good, in recent months I have gotten more into the electronic part and I have all my tools. I hope I can learn a lot and also contribute everything in my power.

          Best regards.
          Drixner.

            Hello everyone,

i'm an IT Tecnician from Italy, i'm specialized in malware recognition and removal; actually i'm doing more "manual" stuff and this includes also 1st level repairs.
Acutally i'm kinda getting angry with HP x360 1040 G6 laptops because HP decided to follow Apple and lock the ability to reset the CMOS...
I hope to learn things which I don't actualyl know and to contribute with my knowledge and help you all with the few things I know

              Hi all

              Hi all,

I am a biologist, farmer, mechanical engineer and an electronics hobbyist. I am frm Turkey and trying to learn electronics and programming to improve my skill.

I found this forum while I am looking for fault of my Acer GD245HQ monitor which has stopped working completely (no signal or led light at all). I have given it to a local service center and professionals on this service center screwed up my monitor. So, I decided to put it in a working state again myself with help of skilled professionals on this forum page. I hope I solve my problem asap.

And if you wouldn't mind to keep this thread "clean" let's try to keep the the chitchat (i.e. Even the welcome to the board replies) to a minimum or this thread may get to 100 pages fast

So i'll start things off :

My name is petabyte and i'm a forum junkie. i've been off the wagon for a number of years and countless times i've tried to stop but it's useless.. I need to feed my learning addiction.. :!:

Now just a bit about me.. I'm a fairly secretive guy in terms of privacy on the net.. Especially when the things you write are visable to anyone with a net connection. But i love to share the info and knowledge i have, so that's why i'm here, to share and learn.

My formal education is that of an electronic engineer and i held a field service position with a firm for over 20 years.. That job is gone now along with company car and laptop <cry> oh well..
So needless to say (but i will) i've always tinkered with things.. Yes, a hacker.. (too bad that term lost it's orignal meaning) a hardware hacker mostly.. Hacking fixes in whatever i find that breaks.. (except for cars, i have friends for that) i got started a little late into the computers, my first box was an ibm pc-xt with a whopping 10meg hd,blazing fast 4.66mhz 8086 processor, 640k mem running dos 3.3.. Man was i cool back then.. Nevermind..

So these days, i'm forced to be a software guy as well.. As i fix pc's for friends and that usually means cleaning virus/trojan/adware and reinstalling os's.. Yeah hardware breaks but not that often  So as a result, i keep up on my software knowledge by visting a few security forums.. And trolling around a few hardware forums as well.

Now i found this place from a thread at motherboards.org/forums
where i've been hanging out lately.. It's a nice friendly place with some pretty smart people.. Mostly, of course, it's about mobo's.. So this person mentioned badcaps.net and i recalled reading articles a year or so ago about the faulty caps and was curious as to what you guys were up to.. And i said "w00t.. They have a forum"..

And so now.. You're stuck with me :p

so what's your story ? Come on.. Give it up..
boa noite gostaria de saber se alguém tem o arquivo bios para placa itautec

sm-3330 fico grato se alguém puder me ajudar.
