HDD is a kingston v300 120gb, in enhanced mode. win7 did not ask for a driver, saw the hdd no problem. Make sure you have the latest BIOS on it.
Sounds like the OP in that incident has a faulty controller. Apparently it's not uncommon with this chipset. That issue he's describing is exactly what happens, it really isn't the SSD. I've seen it on these chipsets before (not on this particular system), and they behave exactly that way....they get drag-ass slow accessing the HDD (even a SSD), and the BIOS gets finicky in detection, even an old spinner.
