Evga 600w first repairing a PSU

    Like the title said.

So I have no clue what to do.

I know the green wire needs to ha e voltage.
This one has 2.5v and the old ones 5v.

I know how to change caps but I don't the quality ones.
How to test a mosfet and that's it. If it's called mosfet. The one screw or glue to the radiator. Noob sry.
so i short the green wire it , the fan spins a 1cm and it stops

it sounds like your 5VSB is working (purple wire is getting 5V). Unfortunately this is where it gets frustrating to debug .. capacitors bad, shorted semiconductors, something is telling the output is out of spec after it tried turning on...

      Thank you.
I will and I will start desoldering stuff.

So there is a short. Psu wants to start but it goes in protection.

wait, your getting ahead of yourself.
you need a load on it first.

            That's scary bad.
I'll put a motherboard and a CPU to see
            That will be so silly.
I bought it from EBay with £4 lulz

Just a little it moved when I trigger to power.
Thought the green led on mobo it's on?

green led will be the standby supply.

so first thing to check is the outputs,
that is the diodes and any ceramic caps for shorts.

if those are o.k. look at the switching transistors AND any snubber ceramic caps across them - been caught there too!
