Corsair vs650 random power off / reboot

    Corsair vs650 random power off / reboot

    I have a problem with a power supply vs 650 (of those first version with the orange label) this to be clear:

    the power supply turns on but randomly turns off the pc

    immediately after you can turn on the PC and cross your fingers until the next shutdown / reboot.

    The 12cm fan runs well

    there are no swollen condensers, burns, brown areas

    Can you help me in the repair? what components could i start checking inside?

    Do you know which power supply turns off?
    Inside an ATX PSU are two supplies: the 5VSB and the main supply (3.3v 5v, 12v -12v)

      Check the solder side of the board for poor solder connetions

        I'm not very expert ... the results of this tester can be useful to the verification you asked me?

        Does that 5.1 value that I see on the screen have to be monitored over time or can it be taken for good now?

          VS650 has problems keeping 12V at.. 12V under load.
          Some people report it dropping to less than 11V.

          12V output capacitors are CapXon. Replaced them with rubycons. Not sure if it helped tho.

            Can you post a picture of the bottom of this board
            9 PC LCD Monitor
            6 LCD Flat Screen TV

            6 18v Lithium Battery Power Boards for Tool Battery Packs
            1 XBox 360 Switching Power Supply and M Board
            25 Servo Drives 220/460 3 Phase
            6 De-soldering Station Switching Power Supply 1 Power Supply
            1 Dell Mother Board
            15 Computer Power Supply
            1 HP Printer Supply & Control Board * lighting finished it *


            These two repairs where found with a ESR meter...> Temp at 50*F then at 90*F the ESR reading more than 10%

            1 Over Head Crane Current Sensing Board ( VFD Failure Five Years Later )
            2 Hem Saw Computer Stack Board

            All of these had CAPs POOF
            All of the mosfet that are taken out by bad caps

              The only capacitors that I see whit CapXon brand seem to be these 2 ....

              did you mean that I only have to replace these 2 with equivalents but of the rubycons brand ????

                random restart,according to my experience, due to faulty pwm chip in secondary.

                Just replace the sitronix ic, st92429 pin 14 or with the equivalent wt7525 pin 14

                  [SOLVED] Corsair vs650 random power off / reboot

                  after some time I can confirm that by replacing the ic with a WELTREND WT7525Y DIP-14P I solved the random reboot problems on this power supply.

                  Let's hope this one I bought will last over time.
