THanks guys; machine is not mine ,it's a familiar and they told me it was washing and went dead and there was water licking in the water input hose where it enter the hot water pump,i they called me and went there to tight the hose and then went to turn on machine then i found out it was dead i guess in the middle of washing it had water in the tank,i also suspect TR9 , the issue it has no marks of part # on the top,i think this is a N_mosfet ,you think this or similar will do?

i tested TR9 in and out of circuit with fluke 87 on Diode mode and G to source it, 0.160 either sise

You have NO DC being provided by the main diodes. How can the board work if there is NO voltage being produced by the power supply main diodes.

Covered in lacquer- they all look like that to some degree.

TR9 is a triac, hence the "TR" designator. Your readings indicate it's good.
You were checking gate to one of MT terminals.
Do not sub with a MOSFET- you'll blow the board up!

TR9 switches the drain pump. Has nothing to do with the SMPS.

          EOL it...

i already took out main board but it's hard to troubleshoot due to the amount of wax covering all the board both sides, all fuses to the rectifier and filtering are good

At this point, I'd solder long-ish jumpers onto C70/71 and observe with a voltmeter. Should be rectified line voltage, 160-170V.

Also jumpers onto that small cap, 22-100u/16v (I replace with 68-100u/16v), looking for 12v.

And jumpers on C75, looking for 5v.

Note I did not indicate polarity WRT common; the outputs are stacked and are referenced to neutral in such a way as to easily directly drive the triacs. Best to measure across each cap individually if you're unfamiliar.

We're interested in voltages across certain capacitors...

I'm quoting this again to ask some more questions.

Did you unplug the machine, work on it, then plug it back in?
If so, there's the possibility of a marginal cap completely failing when voltage was removed; it's then no longer "good enough" to allow the SMPS to start.

Was the hose loose on the HW valve, or was the valve itself cracked and leaking inside the control panel?

As I mentioned in my PM to you, these machines do weird things when the caps start to go. The control locking up midcycle is pretty common. Also restarting the currently selected cycle, as soon as a few mins in to almost near the end.

If there were an issue with TR9, the drain pump would run anytime the interlock relay is closed.

I do not know why we are not getting the reports for the Voltage on C70, 71 as requested and why looking at the TR9.

Thanks Budm i will check voltages on those caps per your instruction as soon i put the board back on the machine this week ,and report finding ,i also think TR9 may not be bad and the cause may lay somewhere else ?
                        thanks

hi it's me again i was able to scrape wax off Tr9 and got some info; AGTT4(S) or (5) in the middle 800 (A) or other maybe Amps, then PjM1747c4, it could be a triac, not sure and can be good! no info about it on the web,

i gave up on it; since the machine owner decided to get another wash machine this time they got another similar second hand whirlpool for 350 bucks ,they did not want to shell out 200 for a control board and went and bought another second hand for 350,now they got this;wish them good luck with thi crappy machine; https://www.whirlpool.com/laundry/wa...tate=pg:2/ct:r
