Visio VX37L White Light / Black Screen

I'm not an electrical guy so bear with me. Today was my first use of a voltmeter ever.

See pictures of my PCB. My resistor and fuse readings were as follows.

    F1: side "a" and "b" were both 0
    F2: side "a" and "b" were both 5.0x volts

    Resistors: Base / Pin 1(top) / Pin 2(middle) / Pin 3 (bottom)

    U2 3.3 / 5.0x / 3.3 / 2.0
    U4 3.3 / 5.0x / 3.3 / 2.0
    U7 1.28 / 3.3 / 1.28 / .03
    U9 1.5 / 3.3 / 1.5 / 0.0
    U33 3.3 / 5.0x / 3.3 / 2.0

I also tested the component U3 which says 7805 on it at U3. This showed 0 volts on all 3 pins.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions. I found a youtube video but out of the gate their F2 fuse worked and mine didn't. Similar TV symptoms but different PCB readings.

Pictures of the back side of the TV so we can see what boards it has? Need to check the for PS_ON signal, also power supply output voltage, right now you are not getting voltage on the 7805 because the 12v is not on.
Good clear pictures of the power supply board is needed, especially at the connectors.

This video shows exactly what my symptoms are and the circuit board I'm working with.

I"m testing with the power turned on just like this video. My Visio logo turns on from orange to white and the tv stays on just like this but not picture.

        additional pictures enclosed.

Pictures of the output connectors of the power supply board, we need to find out if you have BL_ON, PS_ON (PS_ON may be OK since the Logo does change color), morelikely to have 12v/24V switching power supply section problem due to the fact that you do not get 12v to the main board. It will require component level troubleshooting, Should seee how much the replacement board is also.

Re: Visio VX37L White Light / Black Screen

The replacement board is $120.00 for the lower Green peripherals board. I found this on the power supply board, $65.00 part numbers: P/N 3BS0164012GP I think mfg model is FSP201-3M01

Here are closeup pictures of the power supply board. I bought a couple resistors from Digi Key I might try at U7 and U9 of the peripherals board because they were 1$, but it seems I'm not even getting the right power into the peripherals PCB from the power PCB.

I did show 120V going through the large brown capacitor that says 450V on it. And the Fuse was passing through power also, but i'm not sure what else to check toward the output connectors.

If the power supply board is getting PS_ON from the Main board, then the Voltage on that large cap should go up to 370~400VDC to indicate that the PFC Voltage booster is working, if it does not go up with PS_ON present, then you will have to troubleshoot the PFC circuits. You will have to measure the DC voltage right at the two legs of that cap. You will be better off buying new power supply board.

              U7 and U9 are OK.

Re: Visio VX37L White Light / Black Screen

Whilst you have indicated that you do not have much electronic knowledge I am quite concerned that you have embarked on this ambitious project without even a knowledge of what components are called.
I would remind you that many parts inside a tv set work at a VERY HIGH VOLTAGE and even benign looking objects like heatsinks can give you a very nasty jolt perhaps causing you to involuntarily touch something that will kill you.
You repeatedly refer to resistors as though they were the only component you have heard of? - The items you have been testing with the U designation are most likely voltage regulators.
You say you have bought a couple of resistors ?? because the were $1
Do you realise U7 and U9 are specific components - not interchangeable.?
I maybe worrying without reason but my advice to you would be to seek out threads which refer to visio tvs and learn what the parts are called and try and understand what they do.
                BEFORE you kill yourself.
Please upload pictures using attachment function when ask for help on the repair

Thx all and yes your concerns are probably legitimate. No I don't really know what anything else is called on the circuitboard. I'll try the new power circuitboard route. Appreciate the assistance and caution.

The solution to this specific TV issue was to replace the power supply board. I bought this one: http://www.shopjimmy.com/fsp-fsp201-...wer-supply.htm

                    part: 3Bs0164012GP

cost me $45.xx + shipping. thanks for the help everyone!
