Hi everyone.
I am a new member here but have often referenced posts that have helped me repair many things so thanks to you all for sharing your skills and knowledge on this excellent website.
I really don't know if my current problem is related to bad caps or not as it is a Dell 510m laptop mobo with mostly SMT stuff.
I have two of these that when power is applied and the 'On' button pressed the green power light blinks briefly and it make a low volume high pitched squealing type noise and shuts off in a few seconds.
This can only be heard when the mobo is bare-bones and I am familiar with testing this way. I am using good ram, CPU etc and the PSU is fine and Dell branded.
It is defiantly a board fault and I just wondered if anyone had any ideas before I scrap them.
I cannot locate where the noise is coming from, it's quite deceptive on the ears!
Thanks in advance for any advice.
Phill.
