    uk - router swap

    for any BT victims,
    i just swapped out my HH4 for a Netgear DGND3700 running this:

    and it is noticably faster!

    are you on cable or normal phone line at the minute im getting 12mb download and touch wood in 12 months not one issue at all no drop out no speed slowing issues like i was having with talk talk

      ADSL,
      but that router can replace a HH5 too because it's also VDSL - what BT calls "fiber to the kerb"

        did you get much speed difference? does it justify the cost of the Netgear DGND3700

          didnt really notice - my line is shit - overhead pole outside & ancient wire!
          the router can be found cheap used on ebay.
          i only tried it because i got it for almost nothing.

          if you can get a HH5(type-A - very important) then you can put custom formware on that - those things are everywhere.
          you probably get one for a pound at the car boot.

              Not surprising there's not much difference, VDSL isn't using fibre, it uses the same wires as ADSL, just used at a different frequency.

                I went from 20 meg down 1 meg up to 70 meg down and 20 meg up, that said I don't like the router / modem they supplied, I am looking for a replacement for the Talk Talk super router (non super)
