OK, I confess to never having the guts to flash a BIOS. I've never worried about recapping anything, but I've always taken seriously the warnings that bad things can happen when flashing the BIOS.
So I've got a number of ancient candidates that I can experiment on. Various old P2 and P3 boards.
All of these involve use of a floppy drive, I've got lots.
I'm tempted to try the pure Linux method using DOSMENU program.
Other alternative to consider is using FREEEDOS. Then theres DRDOS or pure DOS. I find the instructions a bit cryptic, maybe some one here could shed some light.
I know modern boards have more user-friendly stuff, but I want to learn the old-school way.
I'm interested in fail-safe techniques of updating the BIOS. I'd rather not brick a board if I can help it.
I have a some ASUS P2B and CUSL2-C , an ABIT BX6 and a FIC KA-6130. I also have some Shuttle and QDI Slot1 boards, but finding the BIOS updates might be problematic.
All suggestions gratefully accepted!
