helo ppl, can you help me pls

i have acer with vga problem (ATI 216-0774007) and inte i3-330m with vga

here is scheamtics... is there any way to disable that failed ati (turn on, turn off normaly, no image on screen, num lock and caps lock works)

i will reflow to confirm but it will only fail again so i was wandering how to disable it?

could it be U52???

can you help me magicians?

i think u52 is 1.8 volt for ddr2 ram.


try remove l16 at first. if it works ok then we can make other try.

try for help

reflowed ati vga, flashed bios, it gives image

i removed L16, turns on and no image

now we can begin experimenting any more ideas?
it can be bios problem, on some platforms bios detect first descrete, then uma so if dsc disabled it does not post
but, there is a version of the board without dsc vga so i might try to flash that bios but i will leave that for later

any new ideas?
what signal should be removed? +VGA_CORE?

we removed vga core.... now on page 57 we have ati power....

on page 22 we have NV_BLON_IN and PCH_BL_ON that should be discrete and integrated backlight signals, so both ban turn on backlight.

on page 24 we have
L=>B0 -DIS
H=>B1 -UMA

but that ways is a bit complicated...


let's try remove r658 (page 57) and see...

ps: reballing the chip will fix ati problem.... or if u can buy new chip (25 dollar) reball and put in place

i do not own reballing station, nor i will soon

plus, i try to learn as much on component level reapait and signal tracing as well as mastering schematics (very hard to understand to me)

Hi, just an idea, if you want to disable (not functioning) the ATI chip, why not remove the crystal.

after intensive trying could not get intel vga to appear in device manager... whatever i do, only ATI dsc vga in in device manager so i suspect that even if cpu has uma vga it cannot be only vga on this platform

giving up on this, tnx for all help, i appreciate it

it helped me to understand that VGA_CORE should be disabled in order to hardware disable vga? some bios first detect dsc vga and then uma so i gues this trick is not doable on those platforms?

Put R2 - 0om.
Set RN13 - 0om
to rearrange RN22, RN23, RN24, RN25 to RN16, RN17, RN18, RN19
to rearrange RN33 to RN20, RN34 to RN31, RN114 to RN21
and R384 to 0
Remove R380
Remove Video Chip

I applied both the steps in the video above and the steps in the picture attached to my message. I've tried a lot. I didn't get any positive results either. İ tried with different bios and ec file but didn't
