Just taken delivery of these, like a lot of my pace equipment had to import them from the USA, lazy way of stripping delicate and less than delicate wire

Not considered a lazy approach to wire stripping in aircraft systems when I was in the U.S. Navy. It was the only method allowed. Same with anti wicking tweezers.
Why don't you mine your own Bismuth,
    Mine your own Bismuth
    Mine your own Bismuth
Why don't you mine your own Bismuth,
So you won't be mining mine?

Yes they are invaluable for stripping some of the small wire assemblies I work on, was looking into this about a year ago along with several sets of expensive anti-wicking tweezers. Somewhere around here I have a more or less complete listing of the equipment investment in the lab so I wont repeat it, suffice it to say that several of my clients were asking about IPC soldering standards and did my work meet them.
