      Hello there;
      I found myself on this site while searching for information about the Samsung LCD TV motherboard. I thought that when I examined a little, it was formed from a useful community and I had to join.
      The electronic I started in 1989 is now part of my life. I have worked for many years in Samsung, Sony, Philips, Sharp and Vestel authorized services and have had unique experiences. I established my own business a year ago. I am repairing all types of cards in the field of industrial and consumer electronics on a component basis. This is really very enjoyable.

        So I'll start things off :

        My name is petabyte and I'm a forum junkie. :oops: I've been off the wagon for a number of years and countless times I've tried to stop but it's useless.. I need to feed my learning addiction.. :!:

        Now just a bit about me.. I'm a fairly secretive guy in terms of privacy on the net.. especially when the things you write are visable to anyone with a net connection. But I love to share the info and knowledge I have, so that's why I'm here, to share and learn.

        my formal education is that of an electronic engineer and I held a field service position with a firm for over 20 years.. that job is gone now along with company car and laptop <cry> oh well..
        So needless to say (but i will) I've always tinkered with things.. yes, a hacker.. (too bad that term lost it's orignal meaning) a hardware hacker mostly.. hacking fixes in whatever I find that breaks.. (except for cars, I have friends for that) I got started a little late into the computers, my first box was an ibm pc-xt with a whopping 10meg HD,blazing fast 4.66mhz 8086 processor, 640k mem running dos 3.3.. man was I cool back then.. :roll: nevermind..

        so these days, I'm forced to be a software guy as well.. as I fix pc's for friends and that usually means cleaning virus/trojan/adware and reinstalling OS's.. yeah hardware breaks but not that often :cry: so as a result, I keep up on my software knowledge by visting a few security forums.. and trolling around a few hardware forums as well.

        now I found this place from a thread at motherboards.org/forums
        where I've been hanging out lately.. it's a nice friendly place with some pretty smart people.. mostly, of course, it's about mobo's.. So this person mentioned badcaps.net and I recalled reading articles a year or so ago about the faulty caps and was curious as to what you guys were up to.. and I said "w00t.. they have a forum"..

        and so now.. you're stuck with me :P

        so what's your story ? come on.. give it up..

                  Hello,

                  I'm a newly graduated mechanical engineer. I love taking things apart and fixing just about anything I can get my hands on. I usually stick with anything off-road or with a motor but I have always tinkered with electronics. I bought a few tv's that wouldn't turn on just to figure them out and learn. I've been wanting to learn to diagnose them for a few months and now that I'm graduated I finally have time. I will be starting a new position as an electrical field service engineer here soon and want to squeeze in a few projects. Thanks and happy holidays!

                              Being an Electronic eng. I hate to see stuff get lost and like to fix my stuff myself... Curently I have a Plasma TV going bad , likely the AC detect curcuit.

                              So I intend to use the Optocopler bypass and see if this will fix it

                              Also ,I was very pleased when I saw this solution on this forum ,and look forward for more sharing...

                                Hi! Thanks for letting me in. I am not in the business of repairing electronics, I am more of a hobbyist or weekend warrior, I buy and sell stuff at flea markets and often pick up things that need repairs. I am fairly knowledgeable and competent with meters and soldering irons so I am not afraid to crack open the case and dig in. I sometimes need assistance and am here to ask you more experienced folks when I do need it. I posted an issue I am having with an LG tv ( really? an LG? wow, it's so rare that they have problems!!) and I am hoping y'all can guide me to a proper solution!! And maybe I will be able to pay it forward with someone else's problem!! Thanks
