What is THIS part on laptop inverters ?

Good day folks. Quick question here: despite having worked on (many ?) laptops so far and changed (plenty ?) of inverters for models with CCFL displays, I must admit I don't know what this thing is. Shame on me This ferrite part on the inverter with a wire soldered to it...what is that ? Some sort of ballast ? There's one on either side from what I recall, but I was being a dipsh!t and didn't picture the whole inverter for some reason...

Wish I could, but like I said: didn't picture the whole thing....if I get my hands on it again, I shall, since this is a very old photo I took more than a year ago but never got around to asking about it...

Looks like its just used as some sort of output filter, like a ferrite bead. basically a capacitor on the output made out of ferrite

i think it's some type of high current capacitor to block dc.
reason i say that is because all the invertors i'v worked on decouple the tube from the transformer with a ceramic cap.
and i dont see one there!

or it could be a peizo-electric transformer.
i'v heard about them, but never seen one.
