    Dell E2209WF

I picked this monitor up from a local sears going out of business sale for $28 bucks. thought it was not a bad deal till i got home, seems other different monitors have some kind of same issue. i did hit up the Dell site for support ran the built in Diag and everything checked out. with out the DVI or vga plugged in the diag works and i dont loose the looking for connection. it seemed like it was going into what they were calling low power mode. not the standby mode which is where the power button would turn orange. In this case it stayed blue even when i lost picture and it stayed on for a while then would go orange.

    Issue:
i would turn it on get a picture for 2secs then off, rinse and repeat then i would finally get a picture. This last time i did it the magic smoke got let out.

    What i have done:
Took the monitor apart not knowing what i was doing. I got lucky and did not break any connectors or ribbons. I got the VGA/DVI-D connection board out, no signs for any burnt components. Next i got to the power supply board and looked it over found that C27 burnt out, on its last leg? I have looked up the printed name on another capacitor next to it since they look the same. i got a wide range of answers and one thread here that said it was a 3pF/3KV(which i understood) and possible brand label. I am still unsure of the vaule of C27 on the board since i can not seem to find a diagram for this board. i have looked at replacement boards and they run about what i paid, rather not spend another $20 to make it work.

Attaching pictures here works differently then im use too. Pictures include PCB showing C27 burnt out/PCB model/Rev, and the two different stickers on the panel it self. im sure all this info helps in some way.

    The plan:
Get replacement capacitors ie the ceramic caps first and see if that fixes it. As inspecting the radial caps none of them are bulging, which if they are to me indicates needing to be replaced.

I know it will at some point be asked, i can solder, i have done some other projects. such as a LM3886FT amp kit and fixing a Black&Decker cordless screw driver(battery replacement and fixing the directional switch).

    Thanks guys!

Can we see straight shot pictures of the whole top and bottom side of the board?
    Same board as this?

c27 is the same as c25 at the bottom right corner of the inverter transformer..

before i get pictures, how can i tell how many lamps there are? all i can tell you that it might be for lamps is 2 since there are 2 sets of 2 connectors i disconnected from the power supply board.

off to get pictures and a close up of what i just mentioned on 2 sets of 2 connections.

ok hopefully this goes in order of the pictures uploaded.

(1)back side of the panel, the connectors on the left hand side is what i was talking about. i am assuming then one top light and one bottom light given how the wires come out from the panel.
(2)is the top of the pcb
(3)back side of the pcb a bit on the dark side
(4)one angle of the back of the pcb
(5)another angle of the back of the pcb

Just noticed your edit, from the second picture you posted on the bottom left. the ILPI-03 revA does match what i have, the first linked picture is to blurry to see the info on the right hand side of the pcb. if the value of C25 is the same as C27, is what i listed in the first post the correct pF value?

It has 4 lamps = 4 lamp connectors.
Well, what is printed on c25?

That one in green is not c27, look at the bottom side of your board for c27.

well i am wrong the green one is C23 looking at the print out on the top of the PCB. RED as i listed is correct for C27. Since i got that mess up i found C25, that one Reads as follows, picture below(in Green is C25).

                C
SD or 5D (hard for me to tell)
                3KV
                JNC

all i can figure out is 3kv, the questionable part is if its 5fp if like suggested from a post i found at the forum. even then no one really said they knew for sure.

Be sure to resolder all through hole parts on that board, it all looks like crap.
Good example is L850, the input filter choke:

yea when i was looking over the board i was shocked dell allowed that kind of soldering to pass. any idea what some of the white stuff might be that shows up? i have never seen that doing the little soldering i have done. this white stuff is covers more of the connection board.
