    LG 50PJ550 Clicking

    hello
got another tv im trying to fix with just a clicking fault i will upload more pictures soon
i have so far tested the follwoing
    1. two 5W22 ohms resistors but they are good
    2. D304 is showing as shorted in circuit but ok when out of circuit
    3. No Vs or Va from the power supply even with the Ysus and Zsus disconnected

any ideas how to test this part which is a common failure on these power supplys 3BR1565JF Regulator

    thanks

Pin 5 is ground, so put black probe on pin 5 and touch the other pins with red probe.
If any are shorted to ground then it's certainly bad.

        Link to repair kit:

        http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LG-Power-R...-/131027150307

I had one and that Ic was failed however it never blew the fuse. Also the control circuit for that Ic is also prone to failure on these, will find the kit for that.

          Thanks Hamie its shorted
i have ordered 3BR1565JF Regulator and a replacement diode ill change that and see how i get on
@reecey yes i have seen in further posts that IC701 can be faulty as well but ill try this first then move on if not

          thanks guys

              Re: LG 50PJ550 Clicking

The mark up on these kits are high. Kit for the same auction above is $25 CDN (with current exchange rates).

Aliexpress sells the IC for as low as $1.22 USD + free s/h ($1.64 CDN).

              http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Origi...488431640.html

or 5 (Five) for $2.91 USD + free ship.

For those doing a lot of repairs, you might as well order 5 them well in advance so you don't have to wait 30 days for shipping from China.

              10 x 22 ohm 5W resistors also sell for $2.29 USD + free ship.

So, through aliexpress, I can get probably 10x of everything for less than the price of one kit on ebay.

changed 3BR1565JF Regulator and a replacement diode but still the same as before clicking so maybe IC701 is faulty

Possibly does seem common on these,

can anyone point me into the right direction to test patterns or maybe jump the main board

Legend pins on Psu are as follows

                    17V 17V
                    GND GND
                    5.1V 5.1V

                    GND GND
                    GND GND

What voltage do you get on RL-ON?

                          RL-ON to ground.

                          Vs ON to 5v stby.

                          Give that a try.

hi hamie do you mean jumping

                            RL-ON to ground and M-ON to 5v stby ?

You sure you've measured your voltages right?

I have a working board for this model, if the mainboard is unplugged RL-ON is 0v

Ac-detect, the pin opposite it, is close to the voltage you have stated you have RL-ON.

Sorry Hamie your right i was measuring the legend wrong with main board unplugged RL-ON is reading 0 volts but with main board plugged in then the tv clicks RL-ON is reading 3.9 volts then drops to 0 Volts

ok I've jumped my board on and it's RL-ON to 5v stby.

                                  all voltages came up.

its strange because 3BR1565JF Regulator is showing as shorted again and the diode as well but i know if i remove the diode out of circuit its fine

put in a new 3BR regulator and replace IC 701 also check on the back of the board there is a string of SMD resistor head to tail (in series )just by the IC about 11or 12 of them,I have had problems with these in the past, worth a look Flocko
