    Dell 3007wfp faulty power supply?

Hello, I recently was given a Dell 3007wfp monitor that doesn't power on. No amber light, no nothing. Did some research and found some very good information for the Dell 3008wfp here - (https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=14195) and thought it would translate to my monitor. Got it apart and there isn't a corresponding D22 that I can see and no bulging caps.

I was wondering if anyone could point me in the correct direction as anything would be very appreciated.

Attaching a pic of the power supply.

Anyone have any thoughts? I have noticed some around the WWW that have posted about fixing the 3007 by replacing D22 but can't find D22 - possibly D221?

What strategy do you all use to test the components of busted PS's?

There is a fuse on the power board - Mine was buried under a huge glob of hot glue, so look around. Run a continuity test on it, and replace it if needs be. That's all that was wrong with mine, and it's been fine for the last 18 months.

eidt - I can see it right next to your mains input, in that pic.

Thanks Gingerbeer, yeah checked the fuse first and it seems ok, tried to check the diodes in circuit but as I understand it you can't check diodes in circuit. About out of ideas.

            Hi,
I have the same problem pretty much and tried the same approach but got nowhere. The monitor Has been sitting on my bench for a few months now.

Have you made any further progress?

Your picture is very blurry and it doesn't help.

Hello, I'm new here, but i have the same problem.
Looking on the board i have found: the 17N80C3 (power transistor) was burned out, the capacitor 101 1Kv was burned. Now i try to buy the transistor.
                Cost €6,00.
i am searching for more problems, but biggest problem is time.

Better pictures of both sides of the board will help.

Re: Dell 3007wfp faulty power supply?

My 3007WFP turns off after a few hours, and then when I turn it on again, the time between turning off is in minutes.

This is a different failure mode then what most people here have, so can it still be d22?

To check the caps, I bought a mesr-100 esr meter, it seems to work well on some old caps I have lying around, and the ESR of the caps seems to be good (<0.1 ohms on all, except for c17 which isn't electrolytic but I can't seem to measure the ESR on this one). So it doesn't seem to be the caps.

Should I still buy a new diode for d22? What can can cause the monitor turning off after it's warmed up?
