This was a cap I bought on ebay from PC Motherboard Capacitors Store. It is a panny FJ, and is brand new, with exactly 0 hrs use. However, as you can see in the picture, its bulging and leaking. Do you think it is fake? If you want more pictures of another FJ from the same supplier see https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showpo...43&postcount=7

No wonder it doesn't work! You installed the jumper wires backwards

Re: How on earth did this happen??
It could be fake, because it's not look like pictures from yanz in this post ==> https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showpo...04&postcount=8
Your's "6.3 V", yanz's "16 v" (v is smaller than Voltage rating number)

Re: How on earth did this happen??
OK, Won't be using them anymore. I'll just use either Ruby/Samxon from Topcat or Nichicon from mouser
I only put bad caps in the fire if they're not yet leaking. This will just go in the bin.I love putting bad caps and flat batteries in fire and watching them explode!!

Re: How on earth did this happen??
Whenever I want to explode cheap caps I just put on a welding coat, face mask, and welding gloves (to avoid being sprayed by hot electrolyte) strip the label off of it, and press the tip of my hakko to the side of it. 599C makes them blow pretty quick. CEC's seem to 'splode every time, only could get a teapo to go sometimes, same with asia-x. Strangely enough, I could get those BH caps to go every time, but it would take upwards of 20 seconds. They were very wet when I opened a new one up, it was pretty soaked. Maybe thicker than normal aluminum or a really thinly stamped vent.Comment

Re: How on earth did this happen??
I'm curious about this too I use Panasonic exclusively in low ESR applications.
This is why I only order from official Panasonic distributors so I know I'm getting legit stuff sure you get a better deal from third parties but getting fakes is the risk you take. Risk vs reward strikes again.
A soldering iron to blow bad caps up nice. I clip them to the output of a variac and crank up the AC until they pop.

Re: How on earth did this happen??
Hmm, I wonder why it failed. The others in that order all -look- fine. I hope they are genuine as I have used them on a few motherboards so far (used them to replace the busted caps in my avatar).
As for the datecodes, they are all similar. The date code on the busted one is 6OIVRP
None of my other Panny FJ caps have the exact same datecode (assuming that it was the faint writing on the first pic of my last post), although they are all formatted in a similar way (Begin with 6O or 69, then a roman numeral, ends with two letters).
As for the size of that V for voltage, some of my panny FC and FM ordered from another place (RS Components) have the capital V. Surely, RS wouldn't be selling fake FC and FM would they?? I'd say its just a normal variation in manufacturing, just like the size of any other text on them.I love putting bad caps and flat batteries in fire and watching them explode!!

They look legit to me too.
It's rare but once in a while a cap gets built with the polarity marked backwards on the cap.Mann-Made Global Warming.

Re: How on earth did this happen??
you mean it was not used BY YOU?
you don't really know what happened to that cap before it reached you.
also, if it's just one in 100, it's just freak accident...or somebody trying to sell a cap that he put backwards...Comment

by paparazzo79Hi guys.I bought Macbook Pro mid 2014 15 inch model which did not came with charger.
I got new charger but judging by the specs seems it is fake one.Sadly I live in Bosnia and genuine charger is rare to find.
what to do?Should I use the fake one?
Will it damage the macbook?... -
by GalraediaI decided to take one of the Rubycon capacitors out of a phat Xbox 360 with a Zephyr motherboard and noticed that all the Rubycon capacitors near the CPU were fake. The capacitors in question are Rubycon MFZ 680uf 6.3V and they all have a bullseye bottom, something not found in genuine Rubycon capacitors. None of them were leaking, they all have the K top, and the system has never been opened before. It appears Microsoft was using fake capacitors in the Xbox 360, or the Chinese facility where the console was manufactured in was using them and passing them off a genuine. Just thought I'd share...

by thesameHy guys, i have this lenovo TB-X605F with charging problem, the tablet is fake charging, i have replaced the charging connector twice, it only draws 0.40 Amps when pluging the cable for the first time then it stops drawing any Amps but the tablet keeps showing the charging image at 0% as long as i keep it connected. I have no voltage at the battery connector with the cable pluged, but i have 5 volts after usb connector on some testing points on the board.
