Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

momaka - the Q9400 is going to be reused in a EP41T-DS3R I'm waiting on, since it's exclusively DDR3, and it would be a shame not to pair a Q9400 with lots of DDR3 RAM, especially since it's cheaper...

Core 2 Quad Q9400 w/ cooler
16GB Hama pendrive,...

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

I was thinking of doing this with a old 22' VGA LCD I have and a Sandy Bridge-based Celeron B800 laptop I have (well, the motherboard of it and such) as there would be lots of space (the LCD's PSU is...

Re: BFG Tech. GeForce FX5200 [ASLM52256] full recap info and cooler mod

I know I have the 5500 variant of it, although mine comes from Chaintech rather than BFG, and it has DVI as well.

Re: Post your system.......

Since I can't edit my older post, here:

Mine is the black version. I don't really like the yellow one (looks like a banana lol) and this one came from a prebuilt that had an socket 939 Gigabyte...

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

I've successfully used FLs on other PSUs as well. Even my Raidmax RX-500XT that I use in my main PC uses FLs for 5vSB while the rest of the caps are UCC KZE and KZH, along with ChengX LP for the...

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

It did power on with the board but it just killed power after 3-4 seconds with the mobo.

Same goes without mobo. Haven't tried a HDD or a fan though.

I have to admit I didn't use the best caps...

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

An update on the Bluestorm II 500, hope someone can give an opinion:

Have tested with a 60W lightbulb in place of fuse, and PSU connected to a Gigabyte 8I945PL-G/Prescott 630/512MB DDR2 as mobo...

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

I recapped the FSP BlueStorm II 500W I mentioned in my post. It was a literal nightmare. Thankfully I could get away with some bigger diameter caps in a few places, but on at least the 12v rails I...

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

Scored these things for free:

FSP Blue Storm II 500W - nice PSU, except bulging CrapXons in the secondary. The main cap is a Capxon as well but at least the secondary caps need to go.

Nokia 1...

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

Yeah, and it's the most plain GF2 I've seen. Only a VGA port, nothing else.

I do have a Radeon 9000 somewhere that I have to solder a broken cap from RAM back on. That thing is the AIW variant and...

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

Great free scores!

WD Caviar 2250 - dead sadly - spins up but won't seek

WD Caviar 1210 - working - spins up okay, just won't boot (probably been used as slave drive)

Hercules 3D Prophet...

Re: Raidmax RX-600 ringing noise and 0ms PG

Just checked AliExpress for you, and they have 8964 lots, so you're in luck. :)

As for the main cap, replace it as soon as possible. I have a Andyson here (Hiper 525W) that was killed by the main...

Re: the gutless, bloated, and fried power supply hall of shame

Come to think of it, this stupid design was introduced by them as early as 2005. I have 2 more units with the same PCB and same silkscreens.

And if you haven't noticed, the PI coils for 3.3, GND...

Re: the gutless, bloated, and fried power supply hall of shame

Check this hot garbage.

"Torrent Computers" LC-8400BTX, "400W". Erm...for how many picoseconds?

Then... 2 12v rails? Yeah, right. I'd want to see them on the PCB.

Cracking it open reveals a...

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

CPU: unknown, probably a Pentium 4, since...

Free ASUS P5QD Turbo - P45 chipset, J-Micron 361 + Sillicon Image SIL5723.

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

Yeah, it's good. Apparently the charging circuit didn't like the battery at first as the cells weren't active. Placing it into another PSP (a 3004) I have must've reactivated the cells as after...

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

Scored a PSP model 1004 (phat) for $7. Case is quite cracked, battery for some reason won't charge on it (works on a 3004 I have tho) but otherwise it works fine. I removed the UMD drive since I...

Re: Shuttle XPC SD30G2B (FD30 motherboard)

I feel like the 0652 OSTs are fake. Most RLP I've seen in that size were either Blue/Gold and Black/Gold, while these are green.
