Re: Coolermaster Recap

Looks like they have finally caught up with the 21st century. Would never order from them in the past because freight was a killer.

Doesn't look like they have the higher values I need in a 10mm...

Re: Coolermaster PSU Recap Help

Yeah, was wasting space at work for quite a while till I swapped it for a coral trout ;)

I had replaced the fan once on this but four years service life is better than average.

Speaking of...

Re: Coolermaster Recap

RS sells in lots of 5 so it would be good to be versatile.

Cap voltages generally range from 6.3V to 16V.

Assuming we maintain the minimum voltage spec for a given cap, is there any downside...

Re: Coolermaster Recap

I was baulking at ordering from RS Components but now I see that they are offering free delivery for Australia?

Any strings attached to this?

If not, I might give it a go.

Thumbs up Re: Coolermaster Recap

Thanks for all your help guys. Seems I sure could use it. I have been using mobo series caps without realising these were unsuitable.

Just had a bright idea. I no longer recap motherboards and...

Hey Guys,

Need some advice from the electronic engineers amongst you.

My PC went flaky last night.
The fan had failed on the PSU and half a dozen caps were bulging.
It's not a cheapie and...

Re: CDI or Igniter box repair

Remember when I used to live in Brisbane. A guy there was doing that with outboard CDI units which are very expensive. A good place to start would be a polyester resin (fibreglass) supplier. If they...

Re: Cheap Chinese Cap Meter

Got the meter and have been playing testing it out.

Seems good enough and no blue sticker despite the picture!

Tested about a dozen DS brand 1000uF caps. They ranged from 200uF to 2000uF and...

Just got caught myself. Ordered about 15 odd values from Jaycar.

In the pictures on their online catalogue they feature Samxons which is why I ordered from them.

However, when I received the...

Re: USB problems

Have you checked the pinouts on your mobo USB headers. These are NOT always the standard RWGB.

You can cause serious to your mobo if you take that foregranted as a friend of mine recently found...

Re: Asus motherboards

I would have put them both ahead of GSC.

Lelon - gold cup. Chhsi - silver trophy.

But then at least they are honest - you can see them when they blow.

Re: Asus motherboards

Seeing a few P4S800s coming in with all panasonics. Something else is failing on these boards. Not having the expertise to diagnose it, I just salvage the caps from the board.

Can't remember the names. Sound like carbon copies from what you are saying though. No patent protection in China?

Re: Bad video cards

A bad video card could destroy a Mobo. So can a bad power supply, RAM or probably another other plugin you care to name. Anything that creates a direct short has the potential to cause destruction.

Re: Swollen Rubycon on Dell Optiplex GX270

Thanks, might give it a try just for the hell of it!

Where would be the best place to get these in Australia?

Thinking of placing a small order with Mouser - wonder if they would have them?

Question Peculiar Value Caps on Dell Mobo

With all the talk about latitude in values of replacement caps, thought I would post these rather unusual caps by Dell from the last round of GX270's I recapped for your consideration.

The values...

Exclamation Re: Swollen Rubycon on Dell Optiplex GX270

20 boards finished OK except two.

On three boards, I replaced the 1500uF x 6.3V with 1800uF x 10v since I did not have matching values. Two of these expired after a short while because of VRM...

Arrow Re: Dell OptiPlex™ SX270 / GX270 / GX280 OUT OF WARRANTY SUPPORT PROGRAM
