It was faulty tcon causing main board to shut 12v off

Replaced tcon ..$8...now works great

i think issue may actually be tcon...if i remove the tcon cable from the main board i now have the 12v at main board check point....so maybe tcon is shorted out which causes to lose 12v at main board...

hi
i have a samsung lcd tv

it powers on with sound and backlight but no picture

all voltages from PS are good 12v 3.3v and 5v

whats odd is that at the tcon i tested voltage across the fuse...

The machine has 9hrs power on mode per usage meter
1hr spindle motor on

I just confirmed its a ps ossue...i hooked up 24v directly to main board and now servo motors function

I tried...

Thanks samsam...great info..later today i will examine ps closely and do some cleaning and resoldering

Since the board only has 1hour use on it im thinking this is not a component...

Ok i may have found voltage required...see a link i found ...see cause3...it say 24v needed...ive got a 24v power supply i van feed to v2 wires over weekend to see if servos will then work for...

Hi samsam..thank you.for your good advice..you are correct thats very time consuming...the biggest issue is desoldering.
Im not an electronics guru...just a tinkerer...and for me desoldering lead...

I dont believe the 5v is standby...it powers the controller board and lcd display which is all fine

Ill do some more testing over weekend

This is a cnc machine not a tv

Controller board runs...

thanks..none are bulged and the power supply only has 1hr use on it so none of the components should be bad

just wondering if corrosion or high humidity affected any components from sitting in...

i use isopropyl alchohol to clean it up best i could..and yes there are several corroded areas on the board...the board screw mounts just screw into plastic framing of the machine not metal.

i am troubleshooting an old carvewright cnc machine

it powers on fine but when i test x y or z axis none of the axis will move and i just get axis stall fault

the history of this machine...

Yes i do understsnd regarding load but in my case there was no load on the 42v side

The stepper motors werent even on...cnc controller was off.

Ill monitor voltage next time im...

I see people on utube always moving axis by hand ehich i know is not good for electronics......but oddly enough t my gerber dimension 200 cnc router does not have...

Yes i always use thermal paste and the L298 chip has an aluminum pad on back of it.

This is just a hobby machine i will only use it once in a great while so im not really going to invest...

There is a big 12v fan also cooling the stepper driver boards

its a bit deceiving...they really dont keep blowing ...they just are since i got the machines
..these mschines are 25yrs...

Update..replaced L298 and it working now

Fyi the main 110v fuse is 2 or 3 amp only

Yes axis movement...This is a small cnc milling machine

You can online search labvolt 5600 mill

eccr is it possible that if the L298 is fried as i suspect....could this have blown the 110v main fuse? and not blow the 42v inline fuse to the driver board?

or would it not be related to blowing...

Updste...i was pretty confident that stepper motor good so i connect suspect stepper to othet stepper driver and it works good

The other 2 stepper motors work fine as long as the bad driver board...
