Re: Mitsubishi Magna TR/TS / Verada KR/KS Engine & Transmission Controllers

"Idiots"? I assembled and submitted this information across a couple of forums, and one didn't support local attachments. The content was directly copied across, hence the externally linked images....

Re: MacBook Pro (17-inch Mid 2009) 820-2610 MLB Repair

Only recently managed to compile OpenBoardView on OS X. Still needs some refinement on an OS X host but it already works a lot better than Landrex Test Link does. Looking forward to seeing what can...

Re: MacBook Pro (17-inch Mid 2009) 820-2610 MLB Repair

Eventually did manage to track down the necessary schematics and board view files for this model. I've attached them here in case we want to add them to the collective community archive of notebook...

Re: MacBook Pro (17-inch Mid 2009) 820-2610 MLB Repair

Started the machine yesterday afternoon and she ticked over without a hitch.

MacBook Pro (17-inch Mid 2009) 820-2610 MLB Repair

I've recently come across a MacBook Pro (17-inch Mid 2009) in almost pristine condition. The machine owes me nothing so far, but considering its condition, build quality and that incredible 17-inch...

Re: Apple II Europlus Power Supply Failure (ASTEC AA11042C)

I decided to perform a more extensive overhaul of the PSU and Floppy Drive recently. I had a small mishap that involved connecting the floppy drive to the Disk II controller card one row of pins...

Re: Macintosh Colour Classic - Trinitron Convergence and Geometry

Replaced the damaged resistor and the affected capacitor, and she's off and running again. :D Still have to recap the rest of the board, but good to see it working. I managed to repair the lifted...

Re: Macintosh Colour Classic - Trinitron Convergence and Geometry

Once I took the board out of the machine and just touched the burned resistor at RF11, the solder joint gave out underneath it. It would have been holding on by a thread. While it previously worked,...

Re: Mitsubishi Magna TR/TS / Verada KR/KS Engine & Transmission Controllers

I thought I'd show everyone what happens to a Magna TCU when the capacitors leak over time.

Re: Macintosh Colour Classic - Trinitron Convergence and Geometry

It's been over a year since I first posted this. Life happens, and this project was shelved for some time, but I finally discovered what the source of the problem was.

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

This month's haul is three Power Mac G5s.

The first is a Single 1.8GHz machine. No power supply sadly, so I can't start it up. May consider modding an ATX for this one since it only requires a...

Re: Rescue MacBook Pro with Damaged LVDS

The pads are still on the Logic Board, but the pins are missing from the connector. Even if I were to solder a wire to where the pads on the board trace back to, I couldn't solder it to the connector...

Rescue MacBook Pro with Damaged LVDS

Hi everyone.

I've had a MacBook Pro stored away for a while now - a Late 2011 model with a Core i7 Quad 2.4GHz. The previous owner spilled a glass of red wine over it, and thankfully I was able to...

Macintosh Colour Classic - Trinitron Convergence and Geometry

After about a decade of searching, I finally found and bought a Macintosh Colour Classic. In comparison to other Colour Classics on the market, this one was a bargain in every sense of the word, only...

Re: Mitsubishi Magna TR/TS / Verada KR/KS Engine & Transmission Controllers

There's also a couple of other things worth checking over that certainly apply to Mitsubishi Magna 2.6L EFIs, and possibly some other cars. If you're doing a capacitor job on your car's electronics,...

Mitsubishi Magna TR/TS / Verada KR/KS Engine & Transmission Controllers

It's common knowledge (http://mrgears.50webs.com/ECU2.htm) that Mitsubishi Motors vehicles manufactured between 1989 and 1994 (and possibly some others) have problems with the Electrolytic Capacitors...

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

It's DVI, with USB passed through and a 24v feed to drive the display - all in the one connector. If you could supply 24v to the display separately and just feed a DVI signal into the ADC connector,...

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

An oldie, but a freebie. It's a Power Macintosh G4 (Mirrored Drive Doors 2003) with a single 1.25GHz G4 processor. It's an awesome piece of kit, not incredibly fast now considering it's age, but...

Re: Apple II Europlus Power Supply Failure (ASTEC AA11042C)

In regards to the issue I posted above, I may have an idea, but I could be wrong. As it's almost inaudible unless your ear is near the PSU casing, and only when more than one card is installed in the...

Re: Apple II Europlus Power Supply Failure (ASTEC AA11042C)

Interestingly, the machine still has that strong "coffee-like" smell of a blown film capacitor in it. I may have to take the system apart and clean it out, but I'll inspect the inside of the PSU...

Re: Apple II Europlus Power Supply Failure (ASTEC AA11042C)

I would assume it to be the same as the Apple II+ power supply, based on your description. The component count is rather minimal considering its size. I had the supply apart yesterday, but forgot to...

Re: Apple II Europlus Power Supply Failure (ASTEC AA11042C)

I'll have to take a look inside the PSU to see if I can better pinpoint the date. I'll take a look at the key areas you've suggested, hopefully we can get to the bottom of this. I was thinking of...
