Re: ATX PSU Tester Analyzer modification / upgrade

Errmm, I believe the use of the boost converter also mitigates against this sort of problem as the 'delicate' electronics are hidden behind both the boost converter and the original LDO

Re: Strange resistance readings on Radeon RX6800 VRM

Hi Momaka
Thanks. It shouldn't be too difficult to see if this phase goes to the same controller as the other phases, for example if there is an 8 phase VRM controller

But I couldn't find a...

Re: Apple A1418 All-In-One Computer, faulty screen?

I don't think so piernov - I tend to believe this customer that it failed exactly like he said

I haven't tried opening it in fact I'm not sure how it opens, though I didn't actually look to see

Strange resistance readings on Radeon RX6800 VRM

Hi guys
I can't quite get my head around the resistance readings on this GPU

On phase of Vcore VRM reads higher resistance than the others

This 3 mins video shows exactly what I mean...

Re: ATX PSU Tester Analyzer modification / upgrade

Can I just mention guys that my internal mod actually costs less than the 9V battery, Duracell or otherwise

And you can't forget to turn it off

Apple A1418 All-In-One Computer, faulty screen?

Hi guys, first let me say I am no expert on Apple computers - in fact I never looked at one before

I also hope this is the correct forum section, as this is not a laptop or portable device

I...

Re: ATX PSU Tester Analyzer modification / upgrade

The way I modified it was all internal and only cost €0.76 in parts

So now it will power up as long as any voltage rail has at least 2.5V. That could be further reduced to about 2.15V if using...

Re: Help to identify this gtx1060 6gb graphics card that I am having an issue with

Hi woody - that's so nice of you :D

The "buck" regulators on a gpu or motherboard are actually synchronous regulators

I covered this topic in detail here...

Re: Gigabyte GA-Z170X-UD3 no post

Does the PCH get hot when you have only standby voltage (before starting the ATX PSU)?

Do you still have 1.3 ohms on the PCH capacitors with the CPU removed?

If the answer to either of these is...

Re: gigabyte gtx 1070 caps, inductors and mosfets short

Resistors don't have a voltage rating. They have a wattage rating (which effectively is a maximum current rating)

If these resistors are burning then almost certainly there is a short circuit to...

Re: Help to identify this gtx1060 6gb graphics card that I am having an issue with

Hi Woody
I don't know this specific card but usually the Vram VRM is located very close to the Vcore VRMs - so normally you have a row of coils on the various phases of Vcore and then one or two...

Re: ASUS PH-GTX1050-2G - not detected

As all your voltages seem to be present, check all the tiny little capacitors just along the edge of the PCIe connector (possibly they are on both sides of the board)

If any are broken / missing...

Re: Asus Prime m250 Pro runs one processor, not anoter

@sorehead
I don't see how you can have different voltage on phase 4. Because all phases of Vcore are connected together after the inductors.

If you really have one Vcore phase reading different...

Re: Asus Prime m250 Pro runs one processor, not anoter

Use a multimeter and check what Vcore is actually doing - not what HWInfo tells you it is doing.

Re: Zotac gtx-750ti 2gb vcore short

Well that would depend on what was causing the short. I while ago i looked at three GTX780

Only one had a GPU Vcore short and that turned out to be an MLCC capacitor - so it does happen. Problem...

R9 390 8Gb - Broken Transistor and missing components?

Re: gigabyte gtx 1070 caps, inductors and mosfets short

@DynaxSC
He is reading less than 0.13R so the resistance of his meter leads would not make a difference in this case - they could only increase the reading not decrease it. Of course his meter...
