Re: cheap but good thermal paste?

Yes my mistake.
Although I'm well aware it's a highly configurable Linux distribution, i misinterpreted and only took into account the use, forgetting how resources demanding it is to compile (much...

Re: cheap but good thermal paste?

Even with a good thermal paste for a CPU running all cores at full throttle a 10şC reduction won't be enough.
On a desktop the way to go was mentioned by clearchris...

Re: Software to analyze Video RAM faults on graphics cards?

GPU internal cache (RAM).
For very low image data (low color count, "still" image, low resolution, ...) it's enough to display readable information.

Re: Need software for Intelligent universal programmer lk48

Yes. Back in version 10.x, a couple years ago, found 99 occurrences to generate a pseudorandom number, either calling ´msvcrt.time' or 'msvcrt.srand´.
Thought it was so funny that even took that...

Re: cheap but good thermal paste?

Yes, it's possible. But it comes with 2 major drawbacks:
1. The price (obvious);
2.1 Silver based thermal paste => higher rate of electrical conductivity and capacitive value;
2.2 Liquid-metal...

Re: CH341a Serial Mode

The demo video mentions both: turn on the ignition key (power up the ASCW module) and don't.
Thus try out both!

Re: CH341a Serial Mode

... 80 bucks

The 5V pin on the ASCW unit. (btw, power up it too -the ASCW)
If you're using a cable adapter this is even more relevant.

From what i've seen on those files you want to...

Re: CH341a Serial Mode

What a lame update app! For serial com it only imports 'FTD2XX.dll' :spank:
Make sure you install the correct FTDI drivers, it might only work with some limited versions (use drivers available under...

Re: Can someone recommend a preheater for large boards (up to ATX size)

My comment never meant to depreciate, no way.
Just wondered if one can use the hot air flow gun to solder the new socket since the plastic / compound material on the socket will melt...

Re: Can someone recommend a preheater for large boards (up to ATX size)

It's still a nice result with the tools you used...! Nice effort!
I think it's doable..., but a question pops-up:
Socket desoldered with success THEN what...? Because soldering a new one will be...

Re: Can someone recommend a preheater for large boards (up to ATX size)

I'm not the best adviser on this subject...
That being established, the major short come will be the actual preheated plat size 260x240.
ATX motherboards usually take up to 300 cm or more in...

Re: repairing traces...on a fine pitch board?

A bubble of solder and the iron would preform way better, imo. (see above suggestion from @stj)
While heat may not have been an issue (probably was imho), if it's not concentrated on the specific...

Re: MP2125 dc-dc converter replacement

From the list they all supersede the MP2125.
But to avoid changing the inductor go for MP2209.

Re: Help With EZP2019+ Programmer

That's the N25Q512A ID, not the N25Q128A ID.
The NOR Flash was probably wrongly marked.

That's what i usually do, but the outcome -time to arrive- varies widely. [Portugal, Western Europe]

Re: Finally built the Bob Parker "Blue" ESR Meter

Well the answer is quite obvious:

Once circumcised... you are stuck (in fact, not you but the probes... )
Change the sockets and you're free to swap probes (see @stj remark about...

Re: Finally built the Bob Parker "Blue" ESR Meter

Agree with @stj (https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showpost.php?p=1041256&postcount=15).
Plus those banana plugs are completely useless. Cut the probe wires if needed, and replace.
