Re: New Tiny Pad Installation

The last time I had to deal with something similar to this on a Macbook, the customer had already attempted the repair their-self and subsequent damage to the board exposed one of the internal...

Re: clearing solder from very small vias

You need a decent through hole solder extraction system to deal effectively with this, I use a Pace SX-80 or SX-90 for rework such as this. Should there be a problems with very large thermal masses...

Re: wire for bga pads repair

I use between 0.02 and 0.05mm approx with microscope for BGA rework, as for soldering irons I use almost exclusively Pace rework systems. I do have a couple of Weller wsp 80's and for large thermal...

Re: Yaesu FT726R Transceiver

In many respects that is partly how this PB-2445 unit was behaving, while the display worked flawlessly for which ever band option was selected most of the time it would not provide a lock for the...

Re: Kenwood TS830s

Re: Yaesu FT726R Transceiver

The VFO problem was one of many, it was very jumpy or unstable and would not always lock, furthermore it would not setup as per service manual alignment. I did find that changing the dial frequency...

Kenwood TS830s

This hybrid radio came in for what is a typical repair for these venerable vintage sets, band-changer control inter-coupler had parted company and left the building. I was going to machine a...

Re: Yaesu FT726R Transceiver

Well radio is all reassembled and back to the customer, in all 70 plus bad and or failing capacitors were replaced, I never really got down to what was wrong with the VFO (PB-2445) and since the...

Re: Yaesu FT726R Transceiver

So I fished some of the detritus from the bin, other than Elna which I would not know much about other than they still seem to be available, the rest of them appear to be unbranded crud.

See...

Re: Yaesu FT726R Transceiver

I am not sure what the caps were since I replaced the lot on the TX board and they went in the bin, I have a number of boards left to investigate so will let you know along with some pictures if I...

It is good that you are asking these kind of questions, however I would caution that since you are asking these kind of questions then you should not be working on this equipment without the...

Re: Hakko FR301 and FX600 decent for motherboard recapping?

Something along the lines of a Sensa-temp MBT 250 soldering station and Pace SX 80 Endura de-soldering hand-piece. The MBT 250 soldering station is three channel which gives you plenty of scope for...

Re: Hakko FR301 and FX600 decent for motherboard recapping?

If you have a budget of around $500 plus a little wiggle room, then I would choose second hand Pace over Hakko every single day. When I was originally setting up my workshop my choices were between...

Re: Nikon D700 repair experience?

Looking through that manual there is a lot of glue, double sided stick tape and sponge holding that thing together, and I am kind of wondering if there is a tape and spongy kit to re assemble this.
